RL78/G1A CHAPTER 6 TIMER ARRAY UNIT
R01UH0305EJ0200 Rev.2.00 183

The timer array unit has eight 16-bit timers.
Each 16-bit timer is called a channel and can be used as an independent timer. In addition, two or more “channels” can
be used to create a high-accuracy timer.

For details about each function, see the table below.
Independent channel operation function Simultaneous channel operation function
• Interval timer (→ see 6.8.1)
• Square wave output (→ see 6.8.1)
• External event counter (→ see 6.8.2)
• Divider
Note
(→ see 6.8.3)
• Input pulse interval measurement (→ see 6.8.4)
• Measurement of high-/low-level width of input signal
(→ see 6.8.5)
• Delay counter (→ see 6.8.6)
• One-shot pulse output(→ see 6.9.1)
• PWM output(→ see 6.9.2)
• Multiple PWM output(→ see 6.9.3)
Note Only channel 0 of unit 0.
It is possible to use the 16-bit timer of channels 1 and 3 of the units 0 as two 8-bit timers (higher and lower). The
functions that can use channels 1 and 3 as 8-bit timers are as follows:
• Interval timer (higher/lower 8-bit timer only)/square wave output (lower 8-bit timer only)
• External event counter (lower 8-bit timer only)
• Delay counter (lower 8-bit timer only)
Channel 7 of unit 0 can be used to realize LIN-bus communication operating in combination with UART2 of the serial
array unit (32, 48, and 64-pin products only).
