Thesimplestformofmix‐minususingaUtilityMixerwithmonoinputs.Two
monofadersandtwobusses,AUX1andAUX2areused.
Itisalsopossibletousethemixer'smainoutputstoformamix‐minus,by

ft"andtheotherinput"hardright".
Phones and Remotes
Tosavemoneyandhassle,callersareusuallyreceivedatthestudio,ratherthanattheremote
site.Inthissituation,phonesneedtobefedtotheremotetalent,sothattheycanhearand
respondtocallers.Moreover,thephon
ecallersneedtohearthetalent.Inmanycases,the
remotesaresufficientlydistantthatthestationcannotbemonitoredforthecallerfeed.Evenif
itcould,theprofanitydelaywouldbeaproblem,sincethetalentneedstohearthephonepre‐
delay.

ofeverythingontheprogrambusminustheremoteaudio.
Asforthesecondhalfoftheequation,thecallershearthetalentbecausetheremotefeedis
addedtothetelephonemix‐minusbuss.Noproblemifyouhaveaset‐upthatpermitssele
ctive
assignmenttothephonemix‐minus.
Themostcommonproblemwiththisarrangementisaresultofaphonehybridwithtoomuch
leakagecombinedwiththesystemdelay.Ifthehybridisn'tdoingagoodjobofpreventingthe
sendaudiofr
omleakingtoitsoutput,thespecialremotesendmix‐minusiscorrupted.
