Connecting to the ISDN Circuit
MakingthephysicalconnectiontotheISDNlinevarieswithyourNT1.Youwilluseoneofthe
followingmethodsasappropriateforyourlocale:
1. ZephyrXstream’sbuilt‐inNT1(i.e.USA&Canada)
UsingastandardRJ‐11styletelephone‐typemodularcable,interconnectthesmaller
modularjackontheZephyrXstreamandth
ejackinstalledbythetelephone
company.Becarefultoinsertthecableinthecenterofeachjack,asitisthemiddle
twowiresthathavetheISDNcircuit.
2. ExternalNT1providedbytheTelephonecompany(Europe&mostlocations
worldwide)
Usingalarge8‐pin(R
J45style),telephone‐typemodularcablewitheightwires,
interconnectthelargerjackontheZephyrXstreamandajackontheNT1thatis
labeled“Terminal”or"S/T."Thiscablemusthaveeightwir es andisprovidedwith
theZephyrXstream.
Youshouldnotneedtopr
ovidepowertotheNT1.TheNT1isnormallypoweredfromtheISDN
line.
1.3 Powering Up
TimetoturnontheZephyrXstream!
• ConnecttheprovidedIECpowercabletotheZephyrXstream.Asyouface
theback,theconnectionisonthelowerright.
• ConnecttheotherendoftheIECcabletoyourAC(mains)poweroutlet.The
ZephyrXstre
am’spowerinputisuniversal,acceptinganythingfrom100to
240VoltAC50/60Hz.
• Flipthepowerswitch,locatedjustabovethepowercableconnector,tothe
“on”position.(pushinthesidelabeled“1”).
• YourZephyrXstreamwillstartup
.Afterafewmoments,thefrontpanelLCD
displayscreenwilldisplaythestatusofyourZephyrXstream.Abovethe
Sendmeters,theSYNCindicatorshouldbeilluminated.Ifyouhaveaproper
audioconnection,andarefeedinganaudiosignaltotheZephyrXstream,
youwillseea
ctivityonthetwoSENDmetersontheleft‐sideofthefront
panel.
