Spkr (all models except the MLC-6). Press to turn on and off speaker and microphone (if available), so you can dial and have a
conversation without lifting the handset. The light next to this button shows when the speaker is turned on.
Mic
(MLS-34D, MLS-18D, MLS-12D, and MLS-12 only). Press to turn the microphone on and off. The light next to this button shows
when the microphone is turned on. Leave on to use the Hands-Free Answer on Intercom (HFAI) feature.
Message Light.
Lights when someone signals you with the Message Light On feature, or if you have a voice messaging system, when
you have a message in your mailbox.
Volume Control Buttons. (all models except the MLC-6). Press to decrease or to increase the volume as follows:
To adjust ringer volume, press or while the phone is idle and the handset is in the cradle.
To adjust speaker volume, press or while listening to a call through the speaker.
To adjust handset volume, press or while listening through the handset.
To adjust background music volume, press or while listening to music through the phone’s speaker.
To adjust the display contrast on the MLS-18D phone, press [
] then
to decrease the brightness or
to increase the brightness,
while the phone is idle and the handset is in the cradle.
On/Off Button (MLC-6 Handset). Turns the handset on and off. (You must turn the handset on to make calls.)
Status Button (MLC-6 Handset). Quickly updates the display on the MLC-6 handset.
Earpiece Volume Control Switch (MLC-6 Handset). To adjust handset volume, slide switch up (high) or down (low).
Talk Indicator (MLC-6 Base). Lights when handset is lifted and turned on.
Charge Indicator (MLC-6 Base). Lights when handset is placed on the base and handset batteries are charging.
Ringer Volume Control (MLC-6 Base). To adjust volume, press or while the phone is idle.
