CHAPTER 11. GLOSSARY
Access Code
A 1-, 2-, or 3-digit dial code used to activate or cancel a feature or access an
outgoing trunk. The star (*) and pound (#) can be used as the first digit of an
access code.
Administer
To access and change the parameters associated with the services or features of the
system.

Answer-Back Code
A code dialed to retrieve a parked call.
Appearance
See Call Appearance.
Attendant
The operator of the console.
Attendant Console
An electronic call-handling position with pushbutton control. Used by attendants to
answer and place calls and to manage and monitor some of the system operations.
Available in two models: Basic Attendant Console and Enhanced Attendant Console.
Basic Attendant Console
The original Attendant Console device.

Call Appearance, Attendant Console
Six buttons, labeled
a through f, used to originate, receive, and hold calls. Each
button has two associated lamps to show the status of the call appearance.
