Chapter 4 Troubleshooting Procedures

Activity N2: Testing
the Hardware
During the power-up sequence, the Remote Annex 6300 runs a series
of self-test diagnostics. These diagnostics test internal hardware
functions. If a test fails, the ATTN and STAT LEDs flash and an error
message is displayed on the console port. The Ethernet LED (Link
LED) lights for a few seconds, then the TRAF LED flashes during the
power-up self-tests. After the self-tests complete, only the STAT and
Ethernet Link LED remain on.
Normal Mode Error Sequence
Table 4-3 shows the state of the LEDs when an error occurs at various
stages of the start-up process. If the Remote Annex 6300 fails during
the hardware-test state (N2), the error condition is hardware failure
NE2. A description of possible causes and solutions for each error
condition is in the following paragraphs.
