To Configure the
Ethernet Interface
Introduction You configure the Ethernet interface for the Proxy Agent when you
set the ifconfig options in the UNIX system.
When to use Configure the Ethernet interface after you set the system name for
the Proxy Agent PC.
Materials
needed
You need the following information to configure the Ethernet
interface:
The IP address for the Proxy Agent PC.
The system name as it appears on the PA001 form.
Your network’s configuration, including the netmask for your
local network. (See your network administrator if you need
help.)
UNIX
commands
Use the following steps to configure the Ethernet interface.
Command Description
ifconfig Assigns an address to a network interface and
configures the interface’s parameters.
netmask Determines which part of your network address
is used as a network ID and which part is used
as the Proxy Agent ID.
