10. Add user information by configuring required fields.
Required fields are indicated by an asterisk (*); for
example, User ID and last name.
Note Assign a password (for User Options web
pages) and PIN (for Cisco Extension Mobility
and Personal Directory).

Note If your company uses a a Lightweight Directory
Access Protocol (LDAP) directory to store
information on users, you can install and
configure Cisco Unified Communications to use

ur existing LDAP directory, refer to
the“Configuring Corporate Directories” section
on page 5-13. Once the Enable Synchronization
from the LDAP Server field is enabled, you will

t be able to add additional users from Cisco
Unified Communications Manager

11. Associate a user to a user group.
Assigns users a common list o
f roles and permissions
that apply to all users in a user group. Administrators
can manage user groups, roles, and permissions to
control the level of access (and, therefore, the level of
security) for system users.
Note In order for end users to access Cisco Unified
CM User Options, you must add users to the
standard Cisco CCM End Users group.

12. Associate a user with a phone (optional).
Provides users with control over their phone such a

warding calls or adding speed-dial numbers or
services.
Note Some phones, such as those in conference
rooms, do not have an associated user.
