Intercom Calling Key Telephone Features

Voice Calling.
With voice calling, intercom calls are connected immediately,
without a ringing tone.
Tone Calling.
With tone calls, a ringing tone is sent to the called extension.
System programming determines whether the DBS 824 uses voice or tone
calling as a default. If voice calling is the default, dialing “1” after the
extension number changes the call to a tone call. If tone calling is the default,
dialing “1” results in a voice call.
Operation
To make a Voice Call:
1. Pick up the handset.
The phone issues intercom dial tone.
Note:
If you are calling from an extension programmed for Prime Line
Preference, press the FF key programmed for intercom operation.
2. Dial the extension number (10-69) or (100-699).
3. If the system default is tone calling, dial “1.”
“Talk-EXT XXX” (where “XXX” is the extension) appears on the
display. If the extension name has been stored, that name appears on
the display after “Talk” instead of “-EXT XX.”
The
EXT
LED lights.
4. Complete the call and replace the handset.
The
EXT
LED goes off.
To transfer a call using Voice Calling:
1. Press the
HOLD
key.
The
EXT
LED flashes.
“Hold-EXT XXX” (where “XXX” is the extension) appears on the
display.
2. Dial the number of the extension to which the call will be transferred.
3. If the system default is tone calling, dial “1.”
