Using the Canonical Dialing Format
About Dialing Formats
A telephone number is made up of the following elements:
IDD CC NDD AC SN
For example, someone calling Mitel Networks from the UK must dial:
001 1 (613) 592-2122
Unless you are making an international call, you do not need to enter all these digits. For
example, if you are calling a number with the same National Direct Dialing prefix, you only
need to dial the area code and the local number.
Abbreviation Name Digit(s) in Example Below
IDD International Direct Dialing prefix 00
CC Country Code 1
NDD National Direct Dialing prefix 1
AC Area (or City) Code 613
SN Subscriber Number 592-2122
Note: In this example, the spaces and parentheses are there for visual convenience.
You could also write 011.1.613.592.2122, or 01116135922122, or any other way you
prefer.
