Terminal is not dialing out. The modem will not work if the terminal is actively connected to the
host computer.
Ensure the snap-on modem is connected to the terminal and the
telephone jack or that the terminal is properly inserted into the
modem cradle.
If you are using the modem cradle, ensure Hayes Compatible on
COM1 is selected. If you are using the snap-on modem, ensure
Powered Serial on Com7 is selected.
Tap Start - Settings, and select the Connections tab. Tap Modem,
select your connection and tap Next twice. Ensure Wait for dial tone
before dialing is selected.
Terminal is dialing but not
connecting.
Ensure the network you are calling supports Point-to-Point Protocol
(PPP). Ask your networking administrator.
Ensure the location is correct. Tap Start - Settings, and select the
Connections tab. Tap Modem. On the Dialing tab, check Location.
Tap Dialing Patterns to ensure the correct numbers are being dialed.
Verify you are dialing the right number. Tap Start - Settings, and
select the Connections tab. Tap Modem. Tap the connection, then
Next and check the phone number.
Disable call waiting. Tap Start - Settings, and select the Connections
tab. Tap Modem. On the Dialing tab, select Disable call waiting, and
enter the disable code obtained from your telephone company.
Beamed data does not
transmit.
Confirm that the terminals are 5 inches apart, and that the path
between the two devices is clear of obstacles.
Adjust the room lighting or move to a different location.
When receiving beamed data
an out of memory message
appears.
Your terminal requires at least twice the amount of memory available
as the data you are receiving. For example, if you are receiving a
30K application, you must have at least 60K free.
