Additional Information
My CLIE handheld is not producing any sounds.
• Check the “System Sound setting.” See “Setting sounds” on page 239.
My CLIE handheld freezes
• Perform a soft reset. See “Resetting your CLIE handheld” in “Additional
Information” on page 251.
Tapping and writing problems
When I tap the buttons or screen icons, my CLIE handheld
activates the wrong feature.
• Calibrate the screen. See “Changing the digitizer preferences” on page
232.
When I tap the Menu icon, nothing happens.
• Not all applications or screens have menus. Try moving to a different
application.
My CLIE handheld does not recognize my handwriting.
• For your CLIE handheld to recognize handwriting input with the stylus,
you must write Graffiti characters. See “Using Graffiti writing to enter
data” on page 34.
• Make the Graffiti character strokes in the Graffiti writing area, not on the
display part of the screen.
• Write Graffiti strokes for letters on the left-hand side, and the strokes for
numbers on the right-hand side of the Graffiti writing area.
• Make sure that Graffiti is not shifted into extended or punctuation modes.

Application problems
I tapped the Today button, but it does not show the correct
date.
• Your CLIE handheld is not set to the current date. Make sure the “Set
Date” box in the General Preferences screen displays the current date.
