12 CHAPTER 1: VCX™ CONNECT INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION
includes 4 FXO ports for connection to the public telephone network and
4 FXS ports for connection to analog telephones and fax machines.
To provide connection to the public telephone network, it can contain:
FXO analog gateway modules (4 ports are standard)
One or two Digital (T1) gateway modules (optional)
Both FXO and digital gateway modules can be configured in the same
VCX Connect 100 Server.
Analog and digital gateway modules are contained within the VCX
Connect 100 Server chassis.
The VCX Connect 100 server is recommended for up to 100 telephone
users.
VCX Connect 200
Server
The VCX Connect 200 server runs the VCX Linux Operating System and
provides IP Telephony and IP Messaging services.
It works with external FXO analog gateways or digital (T1) gateways that
provide connections to the public telephone network.
Additionally, external analog FXS gateways provide connection to analog
devices such as analog telephones and fax machines.
The VCX Connect 200 server is recommended for up to 250 telephone
users.
The 3Com V7111 analog gateways and the 3Com V7122 digital
gateways that work with the VCX Connect 200 server are purchased
separately and are available in several configurations, depending on the
number and type of connections needed. In addition, the 3Com V6100
(in gateway only mode) is supported for analog or digital connections to
the public telephone network.
Supported
Configurations
The supported configurations of the VCX Connect product are:
A primary and secondary pair of servers (either two VCX Connect 100
servers or two VCX Connect 200 servers).
A single primary server (either a VCX Connect 100 server or a VCX
Connect 200 server).
