14. Frequently Asked Questions
This chapter provides tips and information on how to deal with any malfunctions
or faults you may experience with the Aastra 800.
14.1 Telephony
Question: It is not possible to make external calls.
Check the status of the SIP Trunk. In the Configurator, open the System Info:
Telephony: Trunks page. For the Route named “External trunk” the Status indi-
cator should display a small green hook symbol.
Also check the Internet connection of the PC running the Aastra 800 communica-
tions system (for this, refer to Checking Internet Connection starting on page 32).
Question: It is not possible to make external calls with one of the telephones.
Check whether a user is configured for the telephone. Otherwise the settings of
the Guests user group are valid for the telephone. To standard, this user group has
no external call authorisation.
Make sure the user configured for this telephone belongs to a user group with
external line access (Configurator, User Manager: User groups menu).
Check also whether the internal call number of this telephone has been con-
figured for incoming call distribution (Configurator, Telephony: Call Distri-
bution menu).
Question: One of the features (e.g. call diversion) on one of the telephones
cannot be used even though the feature has been configured in the
Configurator of the Aastra 800.
Make sure the user configured for this telephone belongs to a user group that has
access to this feature (Configurator, User Manager: User and User groups
menus). Some features cannot be used until the system PIN is changed.
