4. If required, enter a network key (otherwise known as a WEP key or a WPA key)
and then tap Connect. If a network key is not required, just tap Connect.
Alternatively, when the handheld is within range of the network or access point, start
using the required program, for example Internet Explorer Mobile.
If you are within range of more than one network or access point that you have set up
wireless LAN connections to, you may need to select the connection you want to use.
Configuring settings for a wireless LAN connection
To configure settings for a wireless LAN connection to a network, first make sure the
WLAN radio is turned on (see Turning on the WLAN radio, page 57). Then do the
following:
1. Tap / Settings / Connections / Network Cards.
The Configure Wireless Networks page appears,
displaying the Wireless tab.
Any networks that you have already configured
appear in the list of preferred networks.
2. To add a new network, tap Add New. To change
the settings for an existing network, tap the
network.
3. Enter the name of the network and other
connection details and tap
Next. Then do the
following:
a. To use authentication, select the
authentication method from the Authentication list.
b. To use data encryption, select an encryption method from the Data
encryption list.
c. To automatically use a network key, tap The key is automatically provided.
Otherwise, enter the network key.
d. Tap
Next.
e. For increased security, select the Use IEEE 802.1x network access control tab
and then configure additional authentication information.
4. Tap
Finish to return to the Configure Wireless Networks page.
5. From the Networks to access drop-down list, select the types of network you
want to connect to. Options are All Available, Only access points, or Only
computer-to-computer.
6. Tap
OK.
To delete a wireless LAN connection, tap and hold the connection in the Wireless tab
and then select Remove settings.
