Turning on the handheld
If the screen on the handheld is blank, the handheld is turned off. To turn on the
handheld:
1. Make sure the handheld is not locked. The
Lock switch should be in the up
(Unlock) position. A red bar is visible on the Lock switch when it is in the locked
position.
2. Press the
Power button briefly.
To turn off the handheld, press the
Power button briefly again.
To turn off the backlight while the handheld is turned on, press and hold the
Power
button for approximately two seconds.
Locking the handheld
To lock the handheld screen and buttons, move the Lock switch down to the Lock
position. A red bar is visible on the Lock switch when it is in the locked position. If the
handheld is on when you lock it, the handheld turns off.
To unlock the handheld screen and buttons, move the Lock switch up to the Unlock
position. The handheld is restored to the state it was in when locked. That is, if the
handheld was:
turned on when locked, unlocking the handheld turns it on.
turned off when locked, unlocking the handheld unlocks the buttons only and
leaves the handheld turned off.

Tip – To lock the handheld without turning it off, use the device lock option (see Device
lock, page 36).
Handheld buttons
The Juno ST handheld provides four buttons for fast, easy access to commonly used
Windows Mobile software applications. Use the Directional button to move around the
screen easily or to perform the same action as an Enter key.
The table below provides information about each button.
Button Icon Function
Calendar Displays the Calendar application.
Today Displays the Today screen.
Contacts Displays the Contacts application.
Messaging Displays the Messaging application.
Directional
button
Provides directional controls for moving around the screen and
scrolling in various menus and applications.
To perform the same action as an Enter key, press the center of the
button.
