Bluetooth
®
is a short-range wireless communications technology.
Devices with Bluetooth
®
capabilities can exchange information over a
distance of about 10 meters (30 feet) without requiring a physical
connection.
Unlike infrared, you do not need to line up the devices to exchange
information via Bluetooth
®
. The devices only need to be within a
range of about 10 meters. You can even exchange information to a
device in a different room, as long as it is within the specified range.
The Bluetooth
®
technology allows your device to:
• Locate other Bluetooth
®
devices within the vicinity
• Discover the services that those devices offer
• Connect to, use, and disconnect from those services
• Enable or disable individual services
• Use security features including authentication, authorization, and
encryption
