Using Security Features
The widespread use of Pocket PCs has significantly increased
employee productivity. However, non-secured or inadequately
secured Pocket PCs are creating network security issues for the
corporate workplace when they connect to a secure network.
Valuable information is bypassing network security and being
stored on inadequately secured Pocket PCs. The HP ProtectTools
security features provide on-device security protection so there is
less risk of losing sensitive information on your Pocket PC.
Using HP ProtectTools
HP ProtectTools helps protect your Pocket PC by providing
authentication and encryption of email, calendar, contacts, notes,
tasks, and/or all files stored in the My Documents folder. It can
also be used to encrypt data stored on expansion cards.
When you enable HP ProtectTools, you have the option of
enrolling a fingerprint or entering a PIN and/or password to
access the Pocket PC. If you are unable to successfully swipe
your fingerprint or you forget your PIN or password, you can
access the device with a backup question and answer.
Ä
CAUTION: HP ProtectTools helps protect your Pocket PC and the
data stored on it. If you are unable to access your device with any of
the above methods, there is no way to unlock your device. You have
to restore your device to factory settings, resulting in the loss of all
data on your iPAQ Pocket PC, including data stored in iPAQ File
Store. It is recommended that you remember your PIN/password
and question/answer.
