Display icons:
What they tell you.
Display icons are the symbols your phone uses to communicate
important information.
Short When you are using your phone’s Features menu,
Character you will see an “F” followed by a two-digit number.
Display The two-digit number lets you know which menu
item you are accessing. For example, F51 indicates
the Key Guard function. (See page 57 for a complete
list of menu items and numbers.) When you are
using the phone book or Calls List, you will see the
location of the number you’ve accessed. (See page
27 for more information on the phone book and
page 35 for information on the Calls List.)

In Use Tells you a call is in progress.

No Service Shows that you are outside of service areas and
cannot use your phone.

Digital Indicates that your Sprint PCS Phone is receiving
Indicator a digital signal.

Signal Measures your current signal strength. The more
lines there are, the stronger the signal.

Roaming If this icon is displayed, you are outside of the
Sprint PCS Network.

Messages Indicates you have messages waiting.

Battery Shows the level of your battery charge. The more
black you see, the more power you have left. When
the battery is empty, the icon blinks and an alert tone
is sounded. Shortly thereafter, the phone turns off.

Using the dial.
The dial makes it easy to navigate through your phone’s features.
Symbols on the display screen tell you what your options are and
how to proceed.
Scrolling through menus.
Curved arrows on the screen ( ) indicate that you can access
more options or more information by turning the dial. For example,
on the standby screen you will see curved arrows preceding the
words “Phone List.” When you turn the dial from the standby screen,
you will see the two Phone List options: “Calls List” and “Phone
Book.” Turn the dial again and you will see either the first entry in
your Calls List or the first entry in your phone book. (See page 27 for
more information on the phone book and Calls List.) When only one
curved arrow is displayed, the phone is prompting to you to turn the
dial in that one direction.
Selecting a menu item.
An arrow ( ) indicates the function or menu item you can access
by pressing the dial in toward the center of the phone. For example,
on the standby screen you will see an arrow preceding the word
“Features.” When you press the dial, you will see the table of contents
