Example
The following example shows how to configure the Fast Ethernet interface on the voice gateway:
VG-204(config)#int fa0/0
VG-204(config-if)#ip add
VG-204(config-if)#ip address 9.13.38.149 255.255.255.0
VG-204(config-if)#do sh runn int fa0/0

Command or Action Purpose
Step 1
enable
Example:
VG# enable
Enters privileged EXEC mode.
Step 2
configure terminal
Example:
VG# configure terminal
Enters global configuration mode.
Step 3
ip routing
Example:
VG(config)# ip routing
Enables routing protocols as required for your global
configuration. This example uses IP routing.
Step 4
interface type [number]
Example:
VG(config)# interface fastethernet 0/0
Enters interface configuration mode. You have entered
interface configuration mode when the prompt changes
to
VG(config-if)#.
Step 5
ip address ip address subnet mask
Example:
VG(config-if)# ip address 172.16.74.3
255.255.255.0
Assigns an IP address and subnet mask to the interface.
Step 6
exit
Example:
VG(config-if)# exit
Exits to global configuration mode.
Repeat Step 4 through Step 6 if your voice gateway has
more than one interface to configure.
Step 7
Ctrl-z
Example:
VG# Ctrl-z
Returns to enable mode when you finish configuring
interfaces.
