Help and advice
If you have any problems using your Quartet 3500, this section will
give you the most common, easy to follow solutions.
Telephone problems Possible cause Solution
• Buzzing/poor reception.
• Answering machine not
recording incoming messages.
• No dialling tone.
• Telephone will not dial out or
cannot receive calls.
• Handset does not ring.
Handset and base aerials not
extended.
Answering machine set to Answer
Only outgoing message.
Telephone not connected to
telephone line.
Mains disconnected.
Power cut.
Handset battery pack is discharged.
Handset not registered.
Handset ringer set to Off.
Extend both aerials.
Check your outgoing message,
see page 42 and ensure the
answering machine is set to Answer
and Record, see page 43. Make sure
you have not invited your caller to
leave a message in your own
recorded Answer Only outgoing
message.
Plug the telephone into the
telephone line.
Ensure the power supply is correctly
connected and switched on.
Wait until the power is restored.
Replace handset on base unit for 10
seconds and try again. If this does
not work, disconnect the handset
battery from the handset for 10
minutes. Also disconnect the mains
power.
Then reconnect the base unit to the
mains, then replace the handset
on the base unit for 10 seconds and
try again.
Place the handset on the base unit
and recharge it for 24 hours ensuring
the CHARGING light is on.
