Making/answering calls, Intercom
Problem Cause & solution
Static is heard, sound
cuts in and out.
Interference from other
electrical units.
LMove the handset and the base unit away from other
electrical appliances.
LMove closer to the base unit.
LRaise the base unit antennas.
LTurn on the clarity booster feature (page 20).
LIf your unit is connected to a telephone line with ADSL
service, we recommend connecting a noise filter
between the base unit and the telephone line jack.
Contact your ADSL provider for details.
The handset does not
ring.
LThe ringer volume is turned off. Adjust it (page 33).
I cannot make a call. L If the base unit (including answering system) or the
other handset is in use, you may not be able to make a
call. Try again later.
LWhile listening to messages using the handset, you
cannot make a call. Exit by pressing {OFF}.
LDial lock is turned on. To turn it off, see page 37.
LIf the above remedies do not solve the probrem, set the
dialling mode. Press {MENU} {0} {5} {1} {Save}
{OFF}.
LThe unit is not designed to be used with rotary (pulse
dialling) services.
I cannot redial by
pressing {REDIAL}.
LIf the last number dialled was more than 48 digits long,
the number will not be redialled correctly.
LIf you press {REDIAL} after you have started dialling,
this button functions as the {PAUSE} button. To redial,
do not dial any numbers before pressing {REDIAL}.
LDial lock is turned on. To turn it off, see page 37.
I cannot have a
conversation using the
headset.
LMake sure that an optional headset is connected
properly (page 54).
LIf “SP-phone” is displayed on the handset, press {C}
to switch to the headset.
LUse only the Panasonic KX-TCA88AL headset.
I cannot page the
handset or base unit.
LThe called handset is too far from the base unit.
LThe called unit is in use. Try again later.
