Service charge
- The amount paid each month to
receive wireless service.
Soft keys
- Two keys and on the phone,
the purpose of which:
• varies according to the function that you are
currently using.
• is indicated on the bottom line of the display
just above the corresponding key.
Standby time
- The amount of time a fully
charged wireless portable or transportable phone
can be on and idle without being in use. (See Talk
time.)
Talk time
- The length of time a person can talk
on a portable or transportable wireless phone
without recharging the battery.
Vocoder
- Voice coder. A device used to convert
speech into digital signals.
Wireless
- Radio-based Systems that allow
transmission of telephone or data signals through
the air without a physical connection, such as a
metal wire (copper) or fiber optic cable.
