354 APPENDIX B: AUTOMATED BRANCH OFFICE INSTALLATION
Creating a Branch
Office Scope
You must create a separate scope for each branch office in your VCX
system. Within each scope, you can use DHCP options to configure the
branch office VCX server and PSTN Gateways that are located in the
branch office.
To create a scope on a Windows 2003 server:
1 Create and name the scope.
a Click Start > Manage Your Server.
b Click Manage this DHCP server.
c In the DHCP window that opens, right click the name of the Windows
2003 server and in the menu that appears, click New Scope.
The New Scope Wizard window appears.
d Click Next.
e Enter the name of the scope in the Name text field.
Typically, the scope name should indicate the branch office that will be
associated with the scope.
f Optionally, enter a description of the scope in the Description text
field.
g Click Next.
2 Define the range of IP addresses that the DHCP server can provide for this
scope.
a Enter the first IP address of the range in the Start IP Address text field.
b Enter the last IP address of the range in the End IP Address text field.
c Enter the length of the subnetwork mask.
The length of the subnetwork mask is specified in bits, and the mask is
directly related to the length. A typical example is a 24-bit mask. When
you enter a length of 24 bits, the wizard automatically fills in this mask:
255.255.255.0.
d The Add Exclusions window appears. If you want to exclude any IP
addresses from the range that you have specified, enter them here.
To exclude a range of addresses, enter the Start and End IP
addresses and click Add.
To exclude a single IP address, enter it as the Start IP address and
click Add.
