CHAPTER 5: RESPONSE POINT CONFIGURATION
MAX IP RESPONSE POINT SOFTWARE
This section describes how to integrate the MAX IP Response Point into your existing Response Point system.
Microsoft Response Point phones and devices have a blue button that allows you to use Response Point features,
such as transferring a call using voice activated dialing.
To Connect a New Phone or Device:
Using an Ethernet cable, connect the phone to the LAN.1.
Connect the phone to a power source with the power cord.2.
Next, install the Administrator program.3.
Installing Response Point Administrator
Administrator is the program you’ll use to administer and monitor Microsoft® Response Point™. With it, you can
configure phones, users, and extension numbers, and set other options. You should install Administrator on the
computer of the person who will manage the Response Point system.
To install Administrator:
Insert the Response Point CD.1.
Select 2. Install Microsoft Response Point Administrator, and click Next.
On each page, click 3. Next when you are ready to move to the following page of the wizard.
When you reach the last page of the wizard, click4. Finish.
Starting Response Point Administrator and Logging On to the Base Unit
To start Administrator and log on to the base unit:
Click 1. Start, point to All Programs, and click Microsoft Response Point Administrator.
Select the base unit that you just installed, and click 2. Connect.
Note: A few seconds may elapse. If you don’t see the base unit listed, it’s likely that the base unit or the
computer on which Administrator is running is not connected properly to the LAN. Make sure all cables
and power cords are connected.
When prompted to provide a password, 3. type the default password: admin (case sensitive).
It is recommended that you change this password as soon as possible for security purposes. »
Click 4. Connect again.
Note: Before you configure your device, it is important that you set the date and time on the base unit. If
you do not take this step first, you may have to reconfigure any phones you have already configured.
To set the date and time on the base unit:
In Administrator, click the 1. Base Unit button.
