Appendix D. RFC 1483 Quick Start (Bridging)
Initial Setup
It is best to configure Total Access 6XX ATM applications by following the order of the top-level menus.
For example, first configure the system parameters using the
S
YSTEM
I
NFO
and S
YSTEM
C
ONFIG
menus.
Next, configure the Layer 1 parameters using the
I
NTERFACES
menu. Once the Layer 1 information is
configured, proceed to the Layer 2 setup using the
L2 P
ROTOCOL
menus. Follow the Layer 2 setup with the
data “routing” menus (either
B
RIDGE
or
R
OUTER
). Finally, establish packet forwarding and blocking using
the
S
ECURITY
menus.
The following example provides step by step instructions for configuring the Total Access 6XX T1 ATM
system (

NTERFACES
and

ROTOCOL
) for a standard bridging application. System Info and System
Config parameters should be set according to your system need. Refer to System Info on page 49 and
System Config on page 51 for more details.
