SENDING/RECEIVING CIRCUIT SWITCHED DATA (SX6P-300C series only)
Check with your service provider to see if your account supports circuit switched data transfer.
Set the SX6’s Baud Rate for Circuit Switched Data
1. Start by pressing MENU.
2. Select 6: Data Settings.
3. Select 1: Baud Rate.
4. Select 115200 and Press STO to save. This is the communication speed between the
computer and SX6P; data transfer rates will be much slower.
Set Your Computer’s Port and Modem Speeds for Circuit Switched Data
To send or receive circuit switched data, you need to set the port and modem speeds your
computer uses for the SX6P to 115200 bps. See Windows XP/2000 Setup (pages 24 & 26) for
details. This is the communication speed between the computer and SX6P; data transfer rates
will be much slower.
To Send Circuit Switched Data
Follow your service provider’s directions for sending circuit switched data. Whenever your
software asks you what modem to use, select the Standard 19200 Modem.
For Windows XP and Windows 2000, you can start by opening Control Panel > Network and
Dial Up Connections, then double-clicking on “Make New Connection” to start the Network
Connection Wizard.
To Receive Circuit Switched Data
First configure your SX6P to recognize incoming circuit switched data.
1. Start by pressing MENU.
2. Select 6: Data Settings.
3. Select 3: RX Data Mode.
4. Select Data Next Call or Data Only and Press STO to save.
If Data Only is selected, your SX6P will treat all incoming calls as if they were CSD. To
return your SX6P to normal operation, choose Voice Always from the RX Data Mode Menu.
If Data Next is selected, your SX6P will treat the next incoming call as CSD, then return to
normal operation.
Once your SX6P is configured to recognize incoming circuit switched data, follow your service
provider’s directions for receiving circuit switched data using your software. Whenever your soft-
ware asks you what modem to use, select the Standard 19200 Modem.
For Windows XP and Windows 2000, you can start by opening Control Panel > Network and
Dial Up Connections, then double-clicking on “Make New Connection” to start the Network
Connection Wizard.
Note: Taking the SX6P off hook during a data session will end the session.
