answering machine is a tone dialling telephone.

The line is disconnected when someone leaves a message:

An incoming message may be up to 120 seconds in length. After this
time, the call will be disconnected.

If the caller pauses approximately 7 seconds or more, the call may be
terminated, since the voice control function believes that the caller
has hung up.

If the function Announcement only is activated the caller cannot
leave a message.
