Voice Activated Transmit (VOX)
In VOXMode, yourmicroTALK
®
radio can be used
“hands-free,” automatically transmittingwhen you
speak. You can setthe VOX sensitivity levelto fit
the volume ofyour voiceand avoidtransmissions
triggered by background noise.
To Turn VOX Mode Onor
Off:
1. Press theMODE button until
the VOXicon flasheson the
display.The current Onor
Off setting isdisplayed.
2. Press theCHANNEL UPor
CHANNEL DOWN button to
turn VOXOn orOff.
3. Whenyour desiredVOX
Mode setting isdisplayed,
choose oneof the
following:

To Scan Channels:
1
. Press theMODE buttonuntil

he Scan icon andthe
channel number flashon
the display.
2. Press theCHANNEL UPor
CHANNEL DOWN button to
begin scanning channels.
The Scan icon willcontinue to
be displayed whenchannel
scan is On.Yourradio will
continue toscan allchannels
and stopif anincoming
transmission is detected. Your
radio will remain onthat
channel for 10 seconds.
While setting channel scan,if you donot press
any buttons for 15seconds yourradio will
automatically return toLISTENING MODEon the
channel or channel/privacy codedisplayed before
you entered Mode Functions.
a.Press the MODEbutton toenter thenew
setting and proceed toother functions.
b.Press the LOCKbutton toenter thenew
setting and return to LISTENING MODE.
c.Do not press any buttonsfor 15 seconds to
enter thenew settingand return to
LISTENING MODE.
To Set the VOX SensitivityLevel:
1. Press theMODE button until
the VOXicon flashesand
the currentsensitivity level
is displayed.
The current sensitivitylevel is
displayed withthe letter“L”
and anumber 1to 5,5 being
the most sensitive leveland 1
being the leastsensitive level.
2. Press theCHANNEL UPor
CHANNEL DOWN button to
change the setting.
3. Whenyour desiredVOX
sensitivity levelis displayed,
choose oneof the
following:
a.Press the MODEbutton toenter thenew
setting and proceed toother functions.
b.Press the LOCKbutton toenter thenew
setting and return to LISTENING MODE.
c.Do not press any buttonsfor 15 seconds to
enter thenew settingand return to
LISTENING MODE.
During An Incoming Transmission,
You CanChoose From The Following:
a. Press andhold the TALK buttonto
communicate onthat channel.Your radiowill
remain on that channeland return to
LISTENING MODE.
b.Press the CHANNEL UPor CHANNELDOWN
button toresume scanningchannels.
If you press theTALK button whilescanning and
not within 10 secondsof receiving atransmission,
you will transmit onthe channel onwhich youlast
received atransmission. Thiswill returnthe radio
to LISTENING MODE.
If you do notpress any button within10 seconds,
your radio will automaticallyresume scanning
channels.
During Scanning (whilenot receiving
a transmission), You Can ChooseFrom
The Following:
a.Press and hold theTALK buttonto
communicate on eitherthe channelor
channel/privacy code that wasdisplayed
before youentered ModeFunctions orthe
channel onwhich, duringscanning, youlast
received atransmission. Thiswill returnthe
radio toLISTENING MODE.
b.Press the MODEbutton toproceed toset
privacy code onthe channelthat waseither
displayed before youentered ModeFunctions
onwhich,duringscanning,youlastreceiveda
transmission(see“CTCSSPrivacyCodeScan”
or“DCSPrivacyCodeScan”forfurtherdetails).
