Handset options
Allow calls On/Off
You can accept or block calls from ringing at your handset and base using the Allow
calls feature.
When you receive a call and the Allow calls feature is OFF, line buttons and the
light collar flash but the call does not ring.
Note: Do not disturb appears on both handset and base displays when the Allow
calls feature is OFF.
Audio level
You can set a new audio volume level for the handset.
You can choose whether the volume level of the handset returns to the assigned
default level when a call is ended or placed on hold, or whether the volume level
remains at the current volume level on the handset.
Note: This feature is useful if you frequently adjust the listening volume for calls.
Backlight On/Off
Your handset display has a backlight that is helpful in low light conditions.
You can conserve the battery by turning the backlight display OFF when it is not
required.
Note: The battery talk time is reduced with the continuous use of the backlight.
The backlight automatically turns off if the handset is idle for more than 45
seconds.
Base lockout
You can lock the base to prevent unauthorized access. Calls cannot be answered or
placed from the base if the handset is not in the base and the base is locked. Only
handset/base paging is allowed.
Base lockout automatically unlocks when a call is transferred from the handset to
the base. Refer to Move call to base on page 44 for more information on transferring
calls from the handset to the base.
Note: If the base is locked, calls do not ring at the base.
