Muting calls on the base
The base’s built-in microphone can be turned OFF.
When the microphone is muted (OFF), your caller is not able to hear you until you
turn the microphone ON.
To mute a call on the base:
1. While on a call at the base, press © to turn the microphone OFF.
2. Press © again to turn the microphone ON.
3. Press ® to end the call.
Answering calls
If the handset is out of the cradle, incoming calls ring at the base and handset.
If the handset is in the cradle, only the base rings. If the base is locked, only the
handset rings. Refer to Base lockout on page 43 for more information.
Answering calls on the handset
To answer a call ringing at the handset:
1. Press the Mobility button on the side of the handset or press the flashing
button.
2. Press ® to end the call.
Tip: If a call comes in while the handset is in the base, you can pick up the handset
to automatically answer the call. To automatically disconnect the call, return the
handset to the base.
Answering calls on the base
To answer a call ringing at the base:
1. Press the ringing button or ©.
2. Press ® to end the call.
Holding calls
You can pick up calls that are on hold at the base or the handset.
To retrieve the held call, press the appropriate button on the base or handset.
Calls are automatically placed on hold when you switch from one line to another.
