Using the Advanced Features of Your Phone

For dual-protocol phones, the protocol displays next to all call IDs, including
the call IDs for conference call participants and calls on hold. The following
figure shows a SIP call placed to Jack Jones.
When you place calls from call lists or directories, your phone will
automatically choose the protocol to use based on the information in the call
list or directory. When you set up a contact in your Local Contact Directory,
you can specify the protocol the contact uses to handle calls. This allows your
phone to automatically use the correct protocol when you dial the contact.
Using Instant Messaging
You can send and receive instant messages using your phone. Instant
messaging is supported in real-time.
Your phone may indicate instant messages by the following:
An icon, , on the status bar. The icon has a counter indicating the
number of unviewed messages you have.
Note
Instant messaging is an optional feature that your system administrator enables.
Your system may not support it. For more information, contact your system
administrator.
