Writing text
You can key in characters in two
ways: by pressing a letter key once
for each character (predictive text
input) or by pressing a letter key one
or more times for each character
(traditional text input).
To exit from text input to standby
mode, press and hold twice.
Alternatively: Press (Options),
scroll to Exit, and press (OK).
By pressing a key once for
each character
(predictive text input)
Predictive text input is a fast way to
write, for example, text messages
(see page 14) and reminder notes
(see page 27).
This input method uses a dictionary
built into the phone. To use this
input method, check that is
shown at the top of the display.
1. Write the desired word by
pressing each key once for one
letter.
For example, to write ‘Nokia’,
press .
To delete a character to the
left, press . To clear the
screen, press and hold this
key.
To switch between letter
cases, press repeatedly
and check the indicator at the
top of the display. For
example, abc is shown when
you can write lower case
letters.
To insert a punctuation mark,
press and then
repeatedly until the desired
punctuation mark is
displayed.
To insert a special character:
Press and hold , scroll to
the desired character, and
press (Use).
To insert a number, press and
hold the desired number key.
To insert several numbers,
press and hold and key in
the numbers.
To use traditional text input,
press twice. To return to
predictive text input, press
twice.
2. If the displayed word is the one
that you want, press (a
space is inserted) or and start
writing the next word.
If you want to change the
word, press repeatedly
until the desired word
appears.
