Your FR-141 has a unique circuit designed to dramatically extend the life of
its batteries. After 5 seconds of inactivity, the FR-141 will switch to battery
saver mode. While in battery saver mode, the battery saver mode indicator (
) is present on the display, and the transceiver will remain ready to
receive any incoming transmissions while the battery saver mode is active.
Pressing any of the buttons will exit the battery saver mode and illuminate
the display.
Turning the Transceiver On and Off ( )
Pressing the Power button (7) for 2 seconds will activate the unit and the
self-test display momentarily appears followed by the frequency standby
display. The speaker will sound a short melody (if the tone function is
enabled) to confirm the transceiver’s activation and the LCD backlight will
come on for about 10 seconds. To turn the unit off, simply press and hold
the power button for 2 seconds then release it.
To enable the LCD backlighting feature during operation, momentarily press
the Power button; the backlight will come on for about 10 seconds and then
go out.
Volume Level
Audio reception volume is controlled by the Up (F) and the Down (G) button.
Momentarily pressing either button will increase or decrease the volume
level, with each step accompanied by a beep tone. The display will indicate
o1 (lowest setting) to o 8 (highest setting).
