Setting the ring pattern detection
How the unit will answer in each receive mode
TEL mode: You have to answer all calls manually.
If a fax calling tone (slow beep) is heard or no sound is heard, press
to receive documents.
TEL/FAX mode: When a single bell is detected, the unit will automatically answer the call without ringing
and activate the fax function.
When a double bell is received, the unit will ring until you answer the call.
FAX ONLY mode: The unit will answer all calls automatically and activate the fax function.
EXT.TAM mode: When a single bell is detected, the unit will automatically answer the call and activate the
fax function.
When a double bell is received;

if it is a voice call, the external telephone answering machine will record the voice
message.
—if it is a fax call, the unit will receive documents.
Note:

In the FAX ONLY mode, the unit automatically answers a single bell call after the second ring. To change
the number of rings, change the FAX ONLY mode ring count (page 41) after setting the ring pattern.
