MOUNTING THE PHONE
Note
: The adapter powers the phone’s neon light and is
not needed for phone operation.
Cautions
:
Always unplug the adapter from the AC outlet before
you unplug the other end from the phone.
The supplied AC adapter supplies 12 volts, delivers at
least 400 milliamps, and has a plug which properly fits
the phone’s
DC 12V
jack. Using an adapter that does
not meet these specifications could damage the phone
or the adapter.
Wall Plate
Mounting
Set the ringer to sound
a high- or low-volume
ring, or to not sound at
all. You can make calls
with the ringer off, and
you can receive calls if
you hear another phone
on the same line ring-
ing.
Set to
TONE
or
PULSE
to
match the type of service
you have.
If you have pulse (rotary)
service, you can set it to
TONE
(or press ) during a
call to use tone services,
such as bank-by-phone.
Use a paper clip or other
pointed object to lift the plastic
cover off the number plate.
Then write your phone number
and up to ten other important
numbers on the number plate
and replace the cover.
Note:
Use a pencil so you can
change the numbers later.
Press
REDIAL
to dial the last
number dialed (up to 31 digits).
Press the switchhook to dis-
connect a call.
Press
FLASH
to produce a
switchhook signal for special ser-
vices such as call waiting.
Note
: If you do not subscribe to
any special services, pressing
FLASH
might disconnect the call.
Hold down
MUTE
to talk
w
ith someone
in the room
w
ithout being
heard by the
person on the
phone.
T
o resume your
conversation,
release
MUTE
.
Set
VOLUME
to
LO/MED/
HI
to adjust the volume you
hear through the handset.
Set
NEON
to
ON
to turn on
the neon light, or set to
OFF
to turn it off.
With
NEON
set to
ON
, the
neon light stays on when
the phone is not in use,
turns off when you pick up
the handset, and flashes
when the phone rings.
Plug the handset cord into the
jacks on the handset and base, as
shown by the arrows above.
Press to end a call without
returning the handset to
the cradle.

This symbol is intended to inform you
that parts inside the telephone present

This symbol is intended to alert you to
important operating and servicing in-
structions included in the papers with
the telephone.

Note:
The USOC number of the jack to be installed is
RJ11C (RJ11W for a wall jack).
