Creating an Ethernet Connection
The term Ethernet refers to the family of LAN products covered by the
IEEE 802.3 standard. It defines what is commonly known as the
CSMA/CD protocol.
To create an ethernet connection:
1
Contact your network administrator to obtain a user name, password,
and domain name.
2
Install the network card driver, if required. For more information,
see the documentation that came with your network card.

NOTE: Most networks use DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol),
so you do not need to change the connection settings unless your
network administrator instructs you to do so.

If necessary, connect the network card to the network with a network
cable. For more information, see the documentation that came with
your network card.
