Transmitting50%ofthetime,orless,isimportantbecausetheradiogeneratesmeasurableRF
energyexposureonlywhentransmitting(intermsofmeasuringstandardscompliance).Always
holdtheradioapproximately5cminfrontofyourmouthwiththeantennapointingawayfrom
yourhead.
RadioOperationandEMEExposure
Unauthorizedantennas,modifications,orattachmentscoulddamagetheradioandviolate
compliance.DoNOTholdtheantennawhentheradiois“INUSE.”Holdingtheantennareducesthe
effectiverange.Donotusetheradioiftheantennaisdamaged.Ifadamagedantennamakes
contactwithyourskin,aminorburncanresult.Ifyouweararadioonyourbodywhen
transmitting,alwaysfittheradioonthebeltclip(supplied).Alwaysensuretheradioandit's
antennaareatleast5cmfromyourbodywhentransmitting.
ElectromagneticInterference/Compatibility
Nearlyeveryelectronicdeviceissusceptibletoelectromagneticinterference(EMI).Toavoidthe
possibilityofelectromagneticinterferenceand/orcompatibilityconflicts,turnoffyourradioinany
locationwherepostednoticesinstructyoutodososuchashealthcarefacilities.

Wheninstructedtodoso,turnoffyourradiowhenonboardanaircraft.Anyuseofaradiomustbe
inaccordancewithapplicableregulationsperairlinecrewinstructions.

TheAdvancedMedicalTechnologyAssociationrecommendsthataminimumseparationof6
inches(15cm)bemaintainedbetweenahandheldwirelessradioandapacemaker.These
recommendationsareconsistentwiththeindependentresearchbyandrecommendationsofthe
U.S.FoodandDrugAdministration.Peoplewithpacemakersshould:•ALWAYSkeeptheradio
morethan15cmfromtheirpacemakerwhentheradioisturnedON.•Notcarrytheradiointhe
breastpocket.
•Usetheearoppositethepacemak ertominimisethepotentialforinterference.•Turntheradio
OFFimmediatelyifthereisanyreasontosuspectthatinterferenceistakingplace.
