S8700 IP Connect Reliability
The S8700 Media Servers are duplicated. Tone clock functionality is provided by the IPSI
circuit pack in each PN. As an all-IP solution, the S8700 IP Connect only supports IP port
networks. The S8700 IP Connect does not support traditional CCS or ATM connected PNs.
This duplex-reliability configuration is shown in the following figure and described in the
subsequent table.

Description of Connection

S8700 Media Server 1 – Two servers are always present, one in active
mode and the other in standby mode.

S8700 Media Server 2 - Two servers are always present, one in active
mode and the other in standby mode.

Duplication Interface - The Ethernet connection between the two S8700
media servers.
