My Qwest cordless 2.4 G gigaphone is showing it is...

My Qwest cordless 2.4 G gigaphone is showing it is "searching for base". And then "enter base ID" How do I enter my base ID (which I believe is on the bottom of the base) when it consists of letters and symbols?
