i have just moved from Ottawa,Ontario to White Roc...

i have just moved from Ottawa,Ontario to White Rock,BC. and my 2468 answering machine doesn't answer. It shows all my contacts, but doesn't ring anywhere and doesn't answer. There has to be more to this than just plugging it in,so,what to do ???
