my inter com doesn't work on my phones model numbe...

my inter com doesn't work on my phones model number tc25424re1-a we have 2 of them, 1 can send out the intercom and we are able to pick up on the other phone but the phone that sent the intercom can't hear any sound. The other phone's intercom button is always flashing red and blue, when you press the intercom button it says err: inhibited
