Checking Voicemail and incoming calls stops voicemail...

While checking voicemail on our RCA 25255RE2 phone, and an incoming call comes in, it kicks us out of voicemail and makes us answer the incoming call. Would like incomig call to go to voicemail and allow us to continuing checking voicemail.
