I am unable to figure out how to get the answering machine working. I bought the phones as a closeout and all that was in the box was the quick start guide which says nothing about answering machines. The problem is that when the number is called a generis female voice says you have reached our number and then it hangs up. There is a generic male greeting on the menu, but it never works. This is for model #43-139 cordless phone
