My system has worked perfectly for years (3 or 4)....

My system has worked perfectly for years (3 or 4). I just reset the number of rings to 7 instead of 4. The little slide button is on ans. The phone rings, only 4 times and then into some answering machine in the ether and I don't know how to retrieve. I purchased the telephone at RS it is a vtech
