The 2nd handset seems faulty - is this a registrat...

The 2nd handset seems faulty - is this a registration (to base) issue, or perhaps it truely is a fault? The 2nd handset, keeps flashing "searching" and beeps. Occasionally when it does register, if it is picked up, or if the phone rings it cuts out again. How is this problem fixed?
