Hello, I just bought PHILIPS telephone HCD633(181)...

Hello, I just bought PHILIPS telephone HCD633(181)/PTSD. I followed the installation instruction; inserting batteries and attaching phone cable and handset. But, there's a problem. I can hear that sound when I pick up the handset, but nothing happens when I try to dial. The screen is empty and nothing happens when I press on buttons! Please help.
