5 My family and I have had various types of cordless phones over the past 10yrs. We've had 4 different kinds of Panasonic also. We had many problems with our phone also: - Phone wasn't ringing, yet we had received voicemails. - When the phone rang, it was crackling - like I had already answered the call. - Not all phones rang, including the main dock and heaps more problems. Only 2 out of 3 phones rang and could be heard. On other occasions, all 3 phones had no sound. Anyway, these were the results: - More power lines had been installed, which sent out more electro-magnetic energy. This caused the crackling. - Although the built-in voicemail was set up for 6 rings, it turned out that it was sent to voicemail after 2 rings. - Sound: 1. The volume was down. 2. The rings had been changed. 3. The phone company's automated system had changed it to forward to another number &/or voicemail instead. 4. * The external speakers had a short. * The main phone controlled all phones, including the sound - when it broke, the others wouldn't make a noise and vice versa with some other phones. I don't know if my answer has helped, but it may be a similar problem - at least you have another option to check now. A lot of our problems were caused by an error with the main phone. So far, for my family, the twin pack of cordless phones seems to have done better than 3 or more. We currently have 3 and problems are starting, we're lucky to have had them for 12 months - if that.
