Question About Panasonic Telephone KX-TG5438
New Battery does not stay charged...

Inserted a new battery,but it does not stay charged very long (1 hr.) before needs charging signal sounds. Initially charged for 16 hrs. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks,Ed.
