Our Panasonic telephone, model # KXTGA653, continu...

Our Panasonic telephone, model # KXTGA653, continually says "Messages Full" but when you go to VM, there are only 2 msgs. on it. Phone is no longer allowing msgs. to be left & red light on base handset continually flashes. What do we do?
